Interstate Waste Services, a leader in sustainable waste management in the U.S. Northeast, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our skilled labor team. This role is critical in maintaining the operational effectiveness of our waste collection and processing equipment. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise and a commitment to safety to ensure all equipment meets the highest standards of functionality and reliability. Perform routine diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on heavy equipment including loaders, dozers, excavators, and other waste handling machinery Identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely and efficient manner Carry out preventative maintenance according to company schedules and industry standards to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize downtime Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and parts used Adhere to all safety policies and regulations in all work areas, ensuring a safe working environment at all times Collaborate with the operations and maintenance teams to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide technical advice Stay current with new technologies and maintenance practices relevant to heavy equipment used in the waste management industry Proficient in using tools and equipment required for heavy equipment maintenance Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics Excellent physical condition to handle the demands of working with heavy machinery Strong communication and teamwork abilities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid driver’s license ASE Certification in Heavy Equipment or Diesel Mechanics is highly preferred OSHA Safety Certification is beneficial
