An elementary special education teacher opportunity is available in New Haven, CT, to provide essential instructional support within an inclusive classroom setting. This contract position begins ASAP to cover a medical leave, with the potential for an extended assignment. The role involves working 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will serve a caseload of 10-11 students in an elementary inclusive classroom, supported by 1.5 paraeducators. The position is onsite and requires collaboration with staff to meet students individualized educational needs. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction tailored to elementary students with diverse learning needs Manage the classroom environment to foster student growth and engagement Collaborate with paraeducators and school staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Monitor and document student progress, providing regular feedback to families and staff Support the social, emotional, and academic development of assigned students Qualifications: Valid Connecticut Special Education Licensure for elementary school teaching Experience in special education within an elementary school setting preferred Strong skills in differentiating instruction and managing inclusive classrooms Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff and support personnel Benefits: Competitive weekly compensation Health, dental, and vision insurance options 401(k) retirement plan for long-term financial planning This position provides the opportunity to impact students educational journeys directly and work within a supportive team environment.
