Job Purpose
Digital Platforms and Infrastructure Technology (DPIT) are developing a Service Catalogue of DPIT Services defining clear consumption and total cost of ownership (TCO) data which will enable the generation of a Bill of IT for each National Grid Business. DPIT has adopted an industry standard taxonomy framework, Technology Business Management (TBM), to define DPIT services by describing cost sources, technologies, DPIT resources, and solutions to gain alignment and cross-functional transparency across IT, Finance, and Business Unit leaders.

The Head of Service Portfolio Management will own the development and overall management of the DPIT Service Portfolio Management (SPM) Office which, is responsible for the DPIT Service Catalogue including Financial Management and Service Catalogue Management processes across the organization. The role will establish a central source of leadership and direction to promote consistency in TBM processes and to identify improvement opportunities including model refinement and automation.

Key partnerships include Finance, IT Strategy (Business Office), Security and DPIT Leadership and Service Owners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable for the creation, ongoing development and management of the SPM Office
  • Drive service performance and cost transparency for both DPIT and the business
  • Accountable for the Service Portfolio Management process including: O ngoing maintenance of service catalog, including maintenance or retirement of existing services and addition of new services , Establish and maintain reporting for service KPIs and Regularly engage service owners to ensure accuracy of service models
  • Accountable for the Consumption and Cost model process and templates including: Continual improvement and refinement of data to improve accuracy of consumption data - working with Service owners to determine improvement opportunities , Define service and cost components within platform (in future, within ServiceNow and Apptio) , Maintain data model within platform to ensure accurate TCO for service and Ongoing refresh of headcount and bands across DPIT
  • Accountable for Service Catalog Communications including: Provide effective channels to communicate current SPM Office initiatives and TCO reporting , Build performance metrics review channels to promote service consistency and accountability and Provide awareness & training for effective adoption of SPM Office practices & enabling technologies
  • Define and establish clear roles and responsibilities within the SPM Office and within each process and p rovide training and skills required for process roles
  • Strive for globally adopted, standardized, tool-enabled processes that focus on being proactive and are continually monitored
  • Create updated DPIT Service Catalogue within ServiceNow
  • Refine and automate IT Financial Management reporting in Apptio
  • Introduce business personas across DPIT to build a customized Bill of IT
    • BS in a relevant discipline or, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
    • 7+ years in progressive leadership roles and a significant amount of experience of leading portfolios with financial focus
    • Experience driving transformation initiatives with strong change management focus
    • Passion for National Grid employees and enabling their success
    • Ability to balance meeting immediate needs while transforming an organization to new ways of work, enabling new services
    • Experience working in an international multi-vendor ecosystem
    • Ability to work well within matrix organizations and have a successful track record of implementing significant change
    • High resilience and stamina, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong analytical skills, well considered opinions and outstanding communication skills
    • Collaborative and strong team player
