Job Description Job Description Job Requirements Key Responsibilities Lead the technical and execution-focused delivery of high-end residential projects, including renovations, new builds, kitchens, baths, and custom millwork, from concept through construction and installation. Serve as the technical lead across assigned projects, translating creative direction from firm principals into detailed, buildable design solutions. Produce and oversee comprehensive construction documentation, including floor plans, elevations, custom millwork drawings, finish schedules, and architectural detailing, ensuring accuracy and alignment with design intent. Manage day-to-day coordination with contractors, fabricators, and consultants, proactively identifying and resolving construction and detailing challenges in real time. Conduct regular site visits and job site observations to ensure quality control, adherence to design intent, and timely execution. Independently manage multiple active projects simultaneously, maintaining organization, momentum, and composure in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Collaborate closely with the principals and design team to refine layouts, details, and material selections while maintaining a strong focus on execution and feasibility. Review and respond to shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field conditions, providing clear direction and timely decision-making. Partner with the Project Manager and operations team to align on schedules, budgets, procurement timelines, and installation logistics. Support client meetings, site walkthroughs, and milestone reviews as needed, with confidence in explaining technical decisions and construction considerations. Mentor and support junior designers by providing technical guidance, documentation standards, and best practices for execution. Proactively flag risks, sequencing issues, and scope considerations early, offering solutions that protect design intent, schedule, and overall project quality. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field. 5-7 years of professional experience in high-end residential design, with extensive hands-on construction and renovation management. Ability and willingness to work primarily in person from our Cos Cob, Greenwich studio, with regular travel to project sites throughout Westchester County and Fairfield County. Remote flexibility may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Proven expertise in kitchen and bath design, custom millwork, and architectural detailing. Demonstrated ability to independently run projects with minimal oversight, including comfort making technical decisions, flagging risks early, and managing complex construction conditions. Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit or SketchUp a plus) and comfort with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Strong project management and organizational skills, able to oversee 4 active projects of varying scope simultaneously. Excellent communication and presentation skills; adept at managing client relationships and navigating decision-making processes. Familiarity with local construction standards, codes, and best practices in NY/CT residential markets. Valid driver's license and consistent access to a car; ability to travel to job sites regularly. Preferred Qualifications NCIDQ or ASID certification. Experience managing new builds or gut renovations in collaboration with architects and contractors. Familiarity with Studio Designer or similar project management software. Advanced knowledge of finishes, lighting, custom cabinetry, and window treatments. Experience designing for families, balancing functionality, storage, and sophistication.
