JOB SUMMARYThe Government Banking Relationship Manager, based in Washington DC, handles day-to-day processes for the client, providing functional & operational support, meeting with various government and other critical clients as necessary. The Government Banking Relationship Manager supports the Senior Government Banking Relationship Manager build trusted relationships and demonstrate how our Banking & Payments products and services can help solve their problems. This individual is required to have a general understanding of the clients business, goals, strategies, and knowledgeable of industry trends, and directions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Meets with various Government Agencies & Departments to encourage adoption of NYCB payment solutions as an alternative to issuing paper checks as part of their payments offerings to their constituents.
  • Coordinates with Sr. Relationship Manager "Sr. RM" to use consultative "Team" approach along with counterparties from our vendor to solicit new payment programs using various payment solutions.
  • Assists Sr. RM to build communication channels with various levels of Government Agencies & Department Heads in order to build awareness of the NYCB payment solutions as a success story in which they can participate.
  • Responsible for achieving business goals, including: maintaining relationships within the US Government and other critical clients as assigned.
  • Meets goals established by Sr. RM & client and ensures all contractual commitments and client needs are being met.
  • Assists preparation and delivery of business presentations and actual program results to respective clients.
  • Travels to offsite meetings with clients as required.
  • Tracks program information and report accordingly.
  • Responds to client queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Contacts clients, manages their relationship with our vendor, and ensures they have all needed services.
  • Responds to all client inquiries with a professional level of customer service.
  • Recommends enhancements to workflows to create efficiencies.
  • Works closely with the Sr. Relationship Manager and Director Government Banking as a Service Officer to ensure that necessary resources are available to conduct the Departments business.
  • Works with internal NYCB departments and vendors to ensure services are meeting clients needs and escalate opportunities for enhancements needed to remain competitive.
  • Performs special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.Job Requirements:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelors degree in Business or Finance.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of prior payments/banking experience with extensive client contact.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
      • Comprehensive knowledge of payments and banking products and services.
      • Excellent communication, marketing, interpersonal and project management skills.
      • Computer literacy in variety of programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and selected Fiserv banking software applications.
      • Strong relationship management and business development/sales skills.
      • Ability to work remotely and to travel to customer locations as needed.NEW YORK COMMUNITY BANK.
