Description Position at New York City Transit Title: VP, Electronics Maintenance First Date of Posting:03/19/2026 Last Date of Filing: Open until filled Authority: TA/OA Department: Subways Division/Unit: Customer Environment & Facilities / Electronics Maintenance Division Reports to: Senior Vice President, Customer Environment & Facilities Work Location: 2 Broadway - Manhattan Hours of Work: Managerial Summary of Position Responsible for the executive direction, strategic planning, state of good repair (SOGR), maintenance, and operation of NYCT’s electronic systems supporting communications, life safety, customer service, revenue collection, and other technology systems across Subways and Buses. Oversees voice, operating data, wireless, radio, copper, and fiber optic infrastructures. Directs maintenance and installation of AFC/OMNY equipment across all NYCT locations. Ensures effective performance of the Central Electronic Repair Shop, which supports Car Equipment, AFC, and other MTA agencies. Provides leadership in safety, EAM data analysis, and contributes significantly to capital program initiatives for communications projects. Compensation: Salary Range Min $220,000 - Max $228,000 – (Job Family, Gen) Grade 013 Responsibilities Direct 24/7/365 maintenance, operation, and repair of NYCT communications systems, ensuring reliability, cost effectiveness, availability, and SOGR performance. Implement new technologies and system expansions to meet NYCT’s operational needs. Lead maintenance and operation of AFC/OMNY hardware and station communication links, including Select Bus Service and turnstile installations; operate fare collection equipment test labs; manage farebox and coin retrieval equipment; collaborate with NYPD to address vandalism and fare evasion. Direct operations of the Central Electronics Shop responsible for repairing mission?critical components for Car Equipment, AFC/OMNY, CBTC, internal groups, and other MTA agencies. Ensure industry?standard, cost?effective performance; specify test equipment and training needs for new car classes. Oversee and expand security and life safety systems (CCTV, Access Intrusion Systems). Maintain high availability of recorders, card readers, and related hardware. Provide video/access downloads for investigations and respond to NYPD Code Red alerts 24/7. Develop and lead strategic initiatives to research and implement new technologies. Partner with Construction & Development teams on design, build, and acceptance of all capital projects with EMO?maintained systems. Use EAM data to identify assets for 20?year needs assessments and determine cost?effective maintenance strategies. Education and Experience Education: Degree required; Baccalaureate preferred. Major in Business Administration, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a satisfactory equivalent field. Professional Experience: Minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience, including 10 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Desired Skills Extensive managerial experience in a 24/7 mission critical operation with mastery of complex systems operations and maintenance, documentation, personnel training and contractor management. Executive leadership in large?scale electronic systems operations and maintenance Knowledge of NYCT policies and operations with experience in union contracts and negotiations. Expertise in communications infrastructure (voice, data, radio, wireless, fiber, copper) Strong knowledge of fare collection technologies (AFC/OMNY) Proven ability to manage mission?critical repair shop operations Experience collaborating with law enforcement (NYPD/FDNY) on safety and security systems Ability to analyze EAM data to drive preventative and remedial maintenance strategies Excellent strategic thinking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Selection Method: Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview. All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
