This position has a career path which provides for promotional opportunities within and across grades as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
This is a multi-level growth series position, the title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process.
If an internal candidate is selected they will move laterally at their current grade level and will not be eligible for a promotion at the time of accepting this position. This applies to candidates moving within the same career path (e.g., analyst, supervisor, engineer), or to a different career path (e.g., analyst to engineer, supervisor to analyst). The selected candidate will have an opportunity to be promoted within the career path during an annual review.

Job Responsibilities

Drive expansion, creation and delivery of technical documentation and training to advance the technical skill sets and expertise of Meter Services employees Support documentation writing, editing, revising, proofreading, and assembling reports, minutes, SDLC documents, and user documentation such as user manuals and online help content.
Provide technical and analytical support for various essential business systems including the Meter Inventory Management System (MIMS) and Field Work Management System (CGI) Provide technical and analytical support for the operation and further development of features and functionality for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, including the network infrastructure, meter technologies and back office systems.
Provide technical and analytical support for the design and implementation of various system integration efforts.
Provide technical support and direction for the Field Laptop Meter Programming software development and on-going maintenance.
Provide technical and analytical support and direction for Field and Shop personnel regarding meter issue investigations.
Deliver technical training to Meter Shop and Field personnel.
Provide technical and analytical support in the evaluation of new metering, mounting equipment, switchgear and telecommunications systems, while supporting the testing, approval, purchase and use of new types of metering and meter test equipment.
Support the development of special metering designs and activities, including primary metering, totalized accounts, TLC accounts, Interchange and IPP metering and conservation related metering programs.
Develop and/or enhance existing spreadsheets, databases, and web pages to support various Meter Services business related functions; Contribute to opportunity recognition, problem solving, root cause, gap analysis, and process improvement initiatives to drive continued advancement of the Meter Services organization; Implement new business processes and streamline and improve current business processes.
Analyze and interpret financial results and forecasts. Perform required variance and budget analyses.
Partner with and develop positive working relationships with various clients including vendors, LIPA and other financial and operating areas to obtain information required to meet responsibilities and respond to various inquiries.
Assist on special projects as needed.
Provide managers and staff a thorough analysis of daily operations and transactional activities and how it varies from specific benchmarks (i.e. previous actual and/or business plan results).
Review and analyze data, and prepare necessary reports to meet financial, regulatory and contractual obligations.

Job Specific Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience Required:

Bachelor's Degree required Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, and Word Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels ranging from field personnel to senior management.
Knowledge in use and application of SQL tools, data models, data processing Demonstrated ability to create and edit graphic images for use in documentation.
Must be results and team oriented and possess strong organizational skills Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and value all aspects of diversity

Knowledge and Experience Desired:

Bachelor's Degree preferably in engineering or related field that supports Technology Operations.

Minimum of 1 year experience in electric metering is a plus

Demonstrated ability in interpreting and translating technical data and operational protocols to comprehensive, thorough and readily understandable technical documents Proficient in Microsoft Visual Basic or Visual C Familiar with Microsoft Project and/or have Project Management experience Experience with Oracle Database Management
