Candid currently has an opportunity for a Lead Data Scientist.Position: Lead Data ScientistReporting to: Director of Data ScienceSupervises: N/ASchedule: 35-hour work week, Monday through FridayCompensation: $111,900-$167,900 (this range is for the NYC area and will be adjusted for other localities; additionally, factors like skills and experience will be considered).Location: Remote. In-person attendance is expected during our annual, weeklong all-staff summit. Additionally, participation for in-person meetings is expected at least once per year for most employees, at least once per quarter for senior leaders, and at least once per month for the executive team. Staff that are not in NYC are expected to travel for these meetings. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design, develop, and implement advanced data science solutions, focusing on NLP and semantic tech integration with ML.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers within an agile development framework to deliver productionized features to Candid's SaaS and/or data products.
• Apply expertise in statistical modeling, ML, semantic technologies, and/or advanced analytics to identify and drive innovation opportunities across various domains, including external products as well as internal data quality and enhancement efforts.
• Perform advanced data wrangling and exploratory analysis on large text and graph datasets.
• Calibrate, monitor, and improve existing NLP and ML models.
• Design and build reporting and visualization tools to communicate complex findings.
• Champion data science, NLP model development, and MLops best practices, and mentor more junior colleagues in those areas.
• Present complex technical concepts and results clearly to diverse audiences.
• Stay current with data science, ML, NLP, and semantic tech trends and evaluate applications.
• Contribute to the data science technical strategy and roadmap, focusing on NLP and semantic reasoning.
• Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.Requirements
  • Masters degree in a quantitative research field strongly preferred; equivalent industry experience also considered.
  • Advanced experience with Python for data processing and analysis, including proficiency with SciPy/NumPy and NetworkX.
  • Demonstrated experience with machine learning tools such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and graph neural networks is strongly preferred.
  • Professional, positive attitude.
  • Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed/requested.
