It's not just a job, it's a lifestyle.Summary:Our Primary Care service is a large department within Mount Laurel Animal Hospital. We offer full services: wellness care, same-day appointments/ urgent care, mobile, surgery and dentistry that are built around a collaborative culture with our specialty services and emergency department.The training mentor of Primary Care will provide support and encouragement while mentoring staff during day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will provide support in outpatient care, sedation procedures, and surgery while fostering a fear-free environment for our patients. The primary care training mentor will demonstrate a positive and encouraging outlook for the entire team. Our ideal candidate is welcoming and approachable with a strong interest in teaching, has great communication skills, and will lead by example. This is an on-the-floor training position.Responsibilities and Skills:-- Work collaboratively with the PC Nursing Supervisor and the Training Supervisor to implement the day-to-day aspects of training protocols.-- Provide both hands on and didactic training that allows employees a standardized system for advancement.-- Helps create, maintain, and update all PC SOP's.-- Assist in training new hires and mentor existing staff during leveling processes.-- Facilitates working interviews and proctors new hire assessments.-- Provides input for 30-60-90-day reviews to PC leads for all new hires.-- Work directly on the floor with staff to ensure proficiency is obtained in all required skills.-- Aid staff in completing skills list and sign off on skills when they master each task.-- Flexible to cover positions of staff members so they can attend required CE.-- Attend CE given by fellow training mentors to keep current with hospital protocols and to provide self-growth and development.-- Actively learning and ensuring personal growth in areas of leadership and mentorship.-- Develop monthly training objectives specific to new equipment, a change in protocol, etc. and ensure compliance.-- Promote CE participation and ensure training is up to date for each employee.-- Attend and participate in recruitment efforts at area technical schools.-- Work with students and coach externs from our partnering veterinary technician schools.-- Identify and coach staff who will assist in the execution of training initiatives.-- Assist training supervisor in developing externship and internship opportunities for technician students and veterinary students.Skills/Qualifications: Candidates must be organized, possess strong interpersonal skills, have a high attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.
